Guiding Principles, Conaway Preservation Group

  1. Respect and responsibly manage the resource assets of the Conaway Ranch.
  2. Recognize the role and importance of Conaway in the Yolo County and greater Sacramento region relative to farming, habitat and flood protection.
  3. Protect the agricultural and habitat values of the Ranch.
  4. Implement a wildlife friendly farming program that assures the economic viability of farming Conaway far into the future.
  5. Set a standard and example for responsible agricultural, habitat and resource management in the region and in the State.
  6. Prioritize conservation and preservation efforts as the primary focus for ownership realization of a return on its investment in Conaway.
  7. Work cooperatively with Yolo County, its cities and UCD toward mutually beneficial solutions to local farmland, habitat and flood protection, and water quality and water supply concerns.
